Question: Would it be appropriate to ask the director of my dance studio to!.!.!.!?
put a no smoking sign at the front of the studio!? Whenever I walk past cigarette smoke I start coughing really bad, I get headaches, it brings tears to my eyes etc!. It stays with me the whole lesson and its starting to affect my dancing!.

Young boys/girls as young as 3 also have to walk past a group of mothers smoking!.

Should I ask her!? I know its their right to smoke and everything but its RIGHT outside the door!. There are plenty of other areas to smoke but they choose not to!.

Thank you :)Www@QuestionHome@Com

You should ask her!. I hate smoke so much especially when I'm jogging or dancing and breathing deeply!. My mother has chronic bronchitis from second hand cigarette smoke!. She never smoked!. My dad was a heavy smoker who died at 68!. I'm sure if he knew he was harming my mother he would have stopped !. People now know that someone smoking harms others!. Say something , if not for yourself, for the three year old who can't really ask!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hell yes, especially if it's affecting your dancing!. They might have a right to smoke, but you also have a right to clean air!. Plus, smoking right outside the door is really rude and inconsiderate of them, and young children should definately not have to be exposed to passive smoking!. I think the director of your dance studio would probably consider it a perfectly reasonable request, especially if you explained to her your concerns and reasons for wanting it!. Go for it!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually in many countries the right to smoke is precluded to 15 feet away for the door, so yes you should and can ask the director to post such a sign so that the dancers who are concerned with the health and well being can breathe a little safer and dance without feeling like they have walked through a ashtray to get where they are!. It never hurts to ask, and, it helps if you ask your fellow dancers to do the same!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Over here it is against the law to congregate near entrance ways, so it maybe the same over there!.
I would make discreet enquires first, then make the suggestion!. You will then have the evidence to back up your request, for him to act on!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i am with u!. smoking is a nasty habit and those who do it in the direct pathway of children and others are rude SOBs!.

ask away!. she will probably not do it so as not to offend her paying moms!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, you should ask him!.
In the UK it's actually illegal now to smoke in a public building!. Not sure if you're from the UK or not though!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if the smoke is affecting your dancing it's obviously going to affect most everyone elses dancing which really isn't going to be a good thing for your director/ choreographer or enyone;s lungsWww@QuestionHome@Com

They have a right to smoke but you also have the right to your physical activity without being impaired by the smoke!. Sometimes asking with the word PLEASE helpsWww@QuestionHome@Com

Definitely bring up your concerns! If you can get a couple of other students to back you up, that would be even better!.

I never hurts to ask about these type of things!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
