At my dance school, they allow us to wear basically whatever we can move in!. This irritates my Russian pointe teacher though!. She's always yelling, "Lift up your pants!!" For pointe she needs to see that we are going up on full pointe and not "cheating!." It's easy to hide an incorrect pointe move under baggy pants!. also, some teachers find it easier to see if your legs are in the correct positions!. In ballet you usually wear a leotard just because ballet is stiff, and movements are very exact!. For hip hop, moves are usually lumped together and it doesn't have to perfect!. Wearing a leotard has nothing to do with seeing the strength in your legs!. It's mainly for teachers to see you're doing everything right!!
Hope this helps : )Www@QuestionHome@Com

The purpose of ballet uniforms is to see the movement!. Wearing leotards allows your teacher to see not only your muscles, but also how straight and steady your legs are!. You can't see all that in baggy pants!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
