Maybe because they don't want toned, muscular legs and arms, or the thought of touching girls all over their bodies just doesn't appeal to them!. I guess constantly being surrounded by thin, flexible, beautiful girls isn't enough motivation!Www@QuestionHome@Com

People have an impression that ballet is too feminine for guys, with the graceful movements, tights, and even the music!. Never mind that athletes like divers can be graceful, all kinds of athletes wear tights, and people respect musicians and conductors in orchestras!. also, just the fact that, like you said, the classes are nearly all girls, makes it seem like something regular guys don't do!. From what I've read it's different in other countries, such as Russia, where ballet is fully respected for guys!. I think guys in high school should have to do ballet for one term in P!.E!., so they can get exposed to what it's really like and end the stereotypes, and it would help their sports too!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

many non-ballet doing men have reffered to the art as "gay" and "girly", when ballet has SOOOOO many benefits for men!. Men who do ballet have great, fit bodies that you can't really get from another sport, and it makes you do BETTER in other sports because of the flexibility and muscle you get!. Dancing is not perceived by American culture to be "manly" and danseurs are generally thought of as being gay (most are not of course!.!.!.)!. I really don't get it though!.!.!.!.!.a straight guy surrounded by dozens of attractive physically fit young women!.!.!.what's wrong with that picture!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I wish there were more too - I don't think it's effeminate for a guy to dance at all - it shows his power! And ballet is not an easy dance to master - it just appears easy!. Maybe men don't like classical music and prefer more rugged contact sports!.

It's really hard work, they get made fun of by other boys all too often, and the public perception is often that they must be gay, even when they're not!.

Personally, I find the straight male ballet dancers to be very hot!. Too bad there aren't more of them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I saw a European dance company that had 16 guys dancing on stage!. It was wonderful! Most guys in the US still get picked on for doing ballet, although it is a very demanding activity!. But, hey, the guys get to dance with all the girls!Www@QuestionHome@Com
