Anyone can learn ballet at any age!. At this stage, it would be nearly impossible to become a pro ballet dancer (although I know of late-starters who studied very intensely and became pro in other genres)!. The hardest part right now may be finding a class that's geared toward older beginners!. Many dance studios offer only more advanced classes for their teens (who have probably been taking dance for a while)!. If you can find an teen/adult beginner class in your area that would be best, but you may find there are few people your own age (if that matters to you)!. If you are going to be headed to college or have a community college nearby, that can be a great place to start dance classes because there are often beginners in their introductory level classes!.

As others have mentioned, flexibility is a plus in any dance class!. And, being a late starter, you may find some things difficult!. Ballet requires a good deal of strength as well as flexibility, but a good beginner level class with help you to develop these things as you go!. Just really try to apply any corrections the teacher gives you and ask questions!. Good luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, you can learn but don't expect to make a career out of it!. It takes years if dedication and practice!. I'm a 16 year student and i am 19 years old and i am still learning so much!. also to make it in the reall ballet world you must not only have the credentials above but be really skinny, lots of money, and the God given natural talent!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you find it spam just forgive me!.

Your question just reminded me a phenomenon which happened with my father, who is not with us!.
My father was from very poor bramhin family and he had an affection with Sitar from his childhood!. But my grandfather had not enough money to provide him a Sitar!. When my father got his first employment he bought a Sitar for himself and went to a renowned Pandit (not taking his name) with that Sitar and asked him whether he can learn Sitar at that age of 25!.
Panditji smiled and replied, "Why not!? I am seeing that you are already with a Sitar in your hand!. It indicates that you have an interest in it!. Go ahead and you can learn it, but always remember how will you perform will depend upon the time you will devote and also with your dedication!."

My father many time told me that story!. I now miss my father, but your question seemed to be similar of my fathers question, and I just shared his experience with you!.
Hope you will get your answer!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First of all, you are not too old!. You are never too old to do anything!. You can teach an old dog new tricks-not saying that your an old dog but I had to learn how to walk again when I was older than you and then I took Martial arts as my pt!. So, go for it! And, Good Luck!
p!.s!. Ballet is the hardest work out that you will ever get- it is right up there with martial arts!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I'm a professional dancer, I support my own living by dancing, and I started dancing at 20!.

TWENTY!

And I'm just a little below the people who've been dancing their whole life!.

Yes, it is very well possible!. But I'm not gonna be nice to you!.

Attend classes everyday!. At least 10 hours a week!.
Stretch for 30 minutes a day to improve flexibility!. Outside the classes!.
Practice your balance and pirouettes 30 minutes a day!. Outside the classes!.

Do a leg split while you watch the TV!.
Brush ur teeth on the tip of your toe!.
Walk on point, whether you're on the streets, malls, whatever!.

Now are you ready to take that all!? If you are, go!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I STARTED LEARNING BALLET AT 19 SO I THINK YOULL BE FINE!. BALLET (DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU GO) CAN BE QUITE DICIPLINED!. IF YOU CAN, TRY TO IMPROVE YOUR FLEXIBILITY BEFORE YOU GO TO A CLASS BECAUSE OTHERWISE IT WILL HOLD YOU BACK!. HONESTLY BALLET IS SOMETHING YOU MUST FEEL STRONGLY ABOUT IN ORDER TO DO WELL!. IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE MUCH BUT IT IS A LOT TO TAKE IN FROM THE WAY YOU HOLD YOU HANDS AND HEAD, TO YOUR BACK YOUR BUTT, YOUR LEGS AND FEET (FEET ARE THE HARDEST)!. IF YOU ARE GOING TO TRY IT GIVE YOURSELF AT LEAST 2 MONTHS TO GET YOUR MOJO!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

You can start at your age, but it will be a bit harder!. The good thing about starting late, though, is that you'll learn pretty fast!. BUt also, since you're older, you will have to work harder for flexibility!. Good Luck!Www@QuestionHome@Com
