she can do dance, but until she's about five or so it will be more like 'creative movement'!. i started dance at 3, and we mostly just did locomotor movements ( run skip jump hop leap gallop walk slide) or creative things ( make up your own shape to do at the end of this song) like improv!. very basic dance elements!. in fact, they called the class ' basic one' and then 'basic two'!.

they start 'ballet one' at like 5 or 6, where they start doing some barre work!. the only other major difference that first year is that they start calling steps by their ballet terms!.( ex: 'grand jete' instead of 'leap' or 'saute' instead of 'jump')

they progress into more technical dancing quickly though!.
i was a 'mademoiselle' in the nutcracker( the dancers under the giant skirt) when i was 8 and i can still hear my dance teacher callling out the steps when i hear the music!. (glissade, assemble, soutenu, and changement!. glissade assemble, soutenu, changement!.) and was surprised that my friend who took 'intermediate dance' as an elective at school this year (i'm 16) said that they were just learning that stuff!.

they normally start pointe at age 11 or 12 at the earliest!. and i would definitely have her try a different style if dance than ballet at some point!. ( i did ballet until i was 13, and then quit dancing all together for 2 years because i didn't like how structured and repetitive ballet got!. now i do modern and jazz and i love it, but i'm definitely glad that i have such a good foundation in ballet!.)

hope i helpedWww@QuestionHome@Com

Well, usually little kids can start in about preschool or so!. I started taking ballet and tap at 3, so i would recommend researching, calling, and checking out local dance schools soon to see what sort of classes they offer for preschoolers!. I've heard of little kids starting at 2 or so, so she could probably take a toddler or "creative movement" class (which is usually what kids under 3 take) and then move up to a regular preschool class at three!. it just depends on the school that you select!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

mostly children that young start what is called a "combo class", which is a combination of tap and acrobatics just to get them started!. i don't know if your dance studio has a different technique to class-taking and ages but that's what my dance studio does!. your daughter probably won't start FORMAL ballet and jazz training until the age of 5 if you keep her going with the beginning classes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no it's not too soon at all they don't really pick up on dance moves that well, and in the rectial its soo cute cause they look soo confused, I think it's really good, it keeps them active at a young age and maybe when she gets old enough to decide she might even want to persure it =D
good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

At my studio they have three year olds!. They aren't in a 'formal' dance class, but they learn things like left foot, right foot, waiting in line, how to treat your friends, and some of the basics!. I have helped out with these classes many times and they are so fun!. I would definitely suggest it for your daughter!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

My teacher starts at 2!. So I think your child is ready!.

You do need to be careful with choosing a good school and the amount of work she takes!. Her backbone needs to stay under control the whole time!.

I believe Ballet gives a good foundation technique, but avoid pointe until her backbone has grown strong, usually between 12-14!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

check what the requirements are at local studios!. i know at one of the studios in my area you have to be at least three but everywhere is different so you should ask the people that run the studio you are considering going to!. i'd guess that most allow you to start around 2-4 years old!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Generally about 4yrs old in most cases!. If you are going to go with the ballet route about 5 to 6 for formal lessons!. If you would like to go ballroom I would say about 10yrs old or so, but I do know people that started earlier!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is never to early to start dancing!. My studio offers Mommy and Me classes for little babies and their moms!. Maybe try something like that!Www@QuestionHome@Com
