Question: Ballet Help!!!?
Ok when I do plies and grand plies whenever I come up my knees hurt! Am I doing something wrong, becuase it feels like it!. also, my leo also rises up my butt and its kinda embarassing!. What should I do!?!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

U are probably using your knees for leverage when you come up from your plie's!. Use more of your thighs and it will help!. If you tend to stick your but out in your plie, it throws your alignment off creating more pressure on your knees!. Keep your lower back as straight as possible!. Have your instructor really analyze your technique, if your feet are turned improperly or your weight is distributed wrong- it will affect your knees!. They shouldn't hurt!.

In regards to leotard, they just suck, haha!. I never had too much a problem, but your leo could be too small!. A bigger size may help!. My studio doesn't require leotards, so I always wore tight dance shorts and tight fitting tank!. Works great!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

you're knees probably are just not in that great of shape!. and don't really worry about the leo!. haha that used to happen with me so I just got a new one!. that fit better and didn't ride up!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

First make sure you are doing them correctly:
1!. Knees over toes!.
2!. Slow and drawn out, not jerky
3!. Use your thigh muscles and turn out muscles (hips and butt)

Then if you still have problems, see a doctor!. He will probably suggest a knee brace!. They are cheap and you can find them pretty much anywhere!. The sooner you start to use it the better!.

If you have 'bad knees' then it might not be something you did wrong!. Most knee problems are genetic!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Your knees should hurt, that means your muscles are being used!. Listen to what your body is telling you-is it good pain (exercising, using muscles) or bad pain (unusual placement,lack of strength, etc)!. As for the leo, there's something we use in gymnastics that you spray on your butt to keep it in place!. Not sure what it's called, but you should be able to find it online!. Or, ask your friends!. I'm sure other ballerinas have the same issue!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Haha Leos will always rise, but you might try a "shortie" leo, it has more of a boy short leg than the regular ones!.!. Make sure you are not" sitting " at the bottom of your plie!. It should go from demi to grande, back to demi and up!. In one continuius movement!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
