Question: I as wondering physically how does ballet affect dancers!?
i`ve heard that it can lead to problems with feet and bad hips etc given that you have to push and strech your body further than it would normally go and sometimes before the body is truely ready to handle itWww@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. Ballet is very physically punishing!. I decided from a young age that I didn't want to be a ballerina after reading how girls learned how to bandage their feet so the blood wouldn't show while performing!.!.!. (fortunately for me, since I'm completely the wrong body type for it anyway, being tall and hourglass shaped)!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

i am a ballerina and this is true
if i dont stretch proparli i can really damage myself and if i go onto pointe for to long my feet bleed
it is worth it though as i love it and no pain no gain
also if i dont "turn out" probarly i can damage my knee for life
any other questions ask me
xx
if this helps please vote me best answer coz im brand new hear and need points i no its cheeky but it truWww@QuestionHome@Com

Ballet is very strenuous and highly athletic!. People sometimes think that it's just a bunch of people prancing around doing pretty stuff!. In fact, ballet dancers sweat like pigs and work their heinies off!. It's possible that the demands of ballet could result in joint problems later on in life, but it seems to me that this is not common since ballet dancers tend to keep themselves in shape for a very long time indeed!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am not sure, I dance and I don't plan to do this with my life, I just do it for fun!. I have had my feet bleed before on pointe!. I had wool toepads at first but then I got gel ones , now my feet just go numb and red!. It takes patience and determination because dancing can be painful, especially turning out!. I know only this, pointe, for me affects the cash in my pocket! I am on my fourth pair of pointe shoes (this is my second year of pointe) and they hav each ranged from $50-$80!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I dont know!. I have been dancing for ever, and I really love it!. The paint is worth it, and my feet dont bleed anymore cause i developed so many calluses that blisters are no longer an issue :P I do keep o getting ingrown toenails and what not :S
I guess if you dont warm up at all it will cause problems, but all good dancer know that its something you need to do!. Its the same with any sport or physical activities really!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't know one dancer who doesn't have a bad ankle, hip, knee or back etc!. Ballet is really tough and it requires you to push your body to its limits and then go further!. After dancing for 10 years I have such bad knees!. If i'm walking or running for a long time sharp pains shoot through the backs and my right knee clicks every single time I bend it!.

Ballet is extremely demanding on the body and that's why most dancers are forced to retire from professionally performing at a very young age!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

While it is very strenuous on the body, and most ballerinas struggle with feet problems (I, for example, struggle with bunions, blisters, and toenails falling off), it is also great for the body!. Dancers must be in shape, and they all have very muscular, well-defined legs, and also do ab workouts and arm workouts!. Pilates were actually invented as an extension of dancing, if you will, a way to exercise through dance positions and such!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is true to a certain extent!. As far as sports go, dance is not half as hard on your body as football, gymnastics, baseball, etc!. There are risks to every sport!. Pointe especially can be trying on ankles, but with proper instruction it does not have to be!. Mostly dancers get blisters and ingrown toenails , but even that can be avoided with properly fitted shoes!. I had a friend who lost 8 toenails in one year, but it was because the lady who fitted her point shoes did not know what she was doing!. Dancing in general is quite healthy, because it is not that physically straining or unnatural!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Well, to be honest, any type of athletic sport or dance may be harmful physically!. I, personally love to dance ballet but ballet can lead to problems IF you don't do it right which is in most cases, how people get injured, or if the dancer works too hard when they are not ready to!. On the other hand, it is also helpful as it can help a person become more flexible and dancing en pointe is definitely a rewarding experience! I think that it is very worth it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Over the past year or so i've developed hip problems but i can't really be sure that it's from the dancing!. I've been to physical therapy tons and it hasn't really changed!. And just recently i've started to develop tendonitis!. So yeah it can be a little rough especially if you're petite like me (b/c my muscles don't bulk up enough)!.
As for my feet, i've been on pointe for a couple of years now and i've never had to wrap my feet because they were bleeding!. But i guess if you're doing it for hours a day!. My feet usually hurt, and i don't have the prettiest toenails but whatever!.
I love it and it does get you into great shape, so i just keep on!. It's just what i do i guess!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes, it's true!.
Pushing your flexibilty is, well, horrible!.!.!. can lead to like pulling a muscle!.!.!. or if you don't stretch before like leaping and other things you can hurt a muscle bad too!.!.!.
There is also lots of bleeding feet, especially from pointe, people also get bunyans which is like a huge bump on the side of your foot!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
