Question: Balroom dancing tips PLEASE!?
Hey, I have just started taking ballroom and so far it doesn't seem to be too hrad, but I have some questions!.
A) My boyfriend is taking the class with me, I haven't seen him dance yet because he was dancing next to me!. However, I know that he has no sense of rythm!. Will dancing teach him to move!?

*the classes were his idea*

B) How hard is the Waltz once you start adding spinning to it!? What about Rumba!?

C) Sorry, if this seems silly, but I'm not used to being lead!. So, ballet and modern dancers, is it easy to follow lead!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

If you have already done other types of dancing you'll learn extremely fast, but may find rumba easier as you are in more control of your movements, whereas in waltz you have to control your impulse to take control!. The first couple of spins will seem confusing, but it gets easy fast!
if it was his idea then he'll probally learn faster, because he wants to do it!. Just don't get annoyed if hes a little behind you at first!. And yes he'll learn to move if you have a good teacher, and maybe if you pratice together outside of class!.
Most importantly HAVE FUN!Www@QuestionHome@Com

yes it s easy to follow leadWww@QuestionHome@Com

A) It depends on how good the classes are but probably not!. Ever seen Strictly Come Dancing!? Men can improve but not amazingly!.

C) Being lead is easy, just don't change your speed!Www@QuestionHome@Com

A) the more he goes the better!. it WILL take sometime depending on how rhythm much he has!.

B)the waltz is fairly easy!. just keep in mind that u have to control ur movements!. rumba is the total opposite!. there are fast turns and quick foot work, but it's possible to learn

C)In do time it will come!. i had the same problem however the more people you "social" dance with, the better you will become

good luckWww@QuestionHome@Com

A) it really depends on the age he's starting at, but anywhere under 16 is usually fine!. if he's really dedicated and commited, he'll improve, don't wry about it!. yes, dancing will teach him 2 "move" lol!. he'll be able 2 show off some moves if he really loves it and wishes 2 continue!.

B) Personally, for me, the waltz is the easiest!. just learn the box step, and that u'll be flying across the room!. Rumba is also quite simple but once u get up 2 gold/gold star, the steps r a little challenging!. however if ur just asking about beginners, then i would say it's a little harder than the waltz, but u'll be fine!.

C) I'm actually a ballroom and modern dancer, and it is a little bit harder at first, but as soon as u'll feel pretty comfortable w/ ur partner, u'll be able 2 follow!. trust me, this isn't the biggest issue once u pass the first 10 or so lessons!.

all the best,
and good luck!!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Turns are not particularly hard!. Following is pretty easy- if you have a good lead!.
He can learn timing by listening to music and counting beats- he may need help at first!. He has to learn to count each step!.!.!.every step, for the rest of his dance life!. That is a little hard at first, but quickly becomes second nature!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A) Dancing will improve his sence of rhythm!. We all are born with it, but some people are more in touch with it than other!. Those who are less aware of it can learn it through training!.
B) With proper technique, turns are not hard!. Without proper technique, the turns are torture!. It depends on how good your classes are, how well they explain it to you!. I hope they are good!.
C) Following is a matter of getting used to!. It comes more naturally to those who tend to be disoriented or forget their steps easily, but in your case you just have to consiously make yourslef to wait for his lead and ge where he sends you rather than where you think you should be going!. There is a lot more to lead and follow as your dancing gets more advanced!. Now you follow his steps, later you will learn to follow much more suttle things like body position!.
Good luck to both of you, ballroom dancing can a lot of fun!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

the waltz is quite easy to follow !.!.!.however is hard to lead !.!.!.
rumba is like a slow version of the chacha !.!.!.so once you no the basics is simple to follow !.!.!.but like with everything each dance can be added to in difficulty by adding different moves / steps so it can be tailored to yours and your parteners lead !.
dancing will help to improve rhythm and coordination so with time yes your boyfriend should improve
ballroom is great fun

A) He'll learn!. It just isn't that hard to count to six or eight!. Don't expect overnight miracles, though!.
B) The turns aren't at all difficult in slow waltz!. Pivots take a little work, but they'll come a little later!. Most studios don't teach quick (Viennese) waltz to beginners, but once you get the basic concepts of dance well in hand, so you aren't making extra work for yourself, it isn't that hard, either!. Most people are their own worst enemy trying to do what they see instead of what they're taught when it comes to learning Viennese!.
Rumba in either International or American style (and they're two totally different dances) is at its basis very simple, though the technique of proper Latin motion will drive you nuts for some time!. (I even had a class with Fabian Sanchez of DWTS visiting the studio I was in when I was a newbie, and what he taught didn't really sink in for months afterwards; and this was all on me, since he has a great teaching style!.)
C) I'd almost take a pass on this part: I'm a guy and never took ballet/modern!. I still don't follow well, probably because I'm only called on to do so once in a blue moon, in private lessons!. But in a few weeks, if you let yourself, you'll be able to follow your instructors pretty easily!. Even we amateurs who've been at it a while can lead beginners through patterns they've never done, or even seen!. A caveat: your boyfriend is going to have a lot of errors covered by his pro!. He'll think he's leading well when you haven't a clue what he's trying to do!. Be easy on his ego!. Beginners need encouragement, not criticism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

A) Pretty much the aim of dancing is to teach you to move to music!. The guy can't lead unless he's got a sense of rhythm and timing, but that can be taught!. It might take a while, but it is possible!.

B) I'd have to say that Rhumba is harder than Waltz because it's not all done in closed hold!. Waltz is fairly easy, even when you do add spinning to it!. Rhumba, while a slow dance, actually has very fast footwork, which can be difficult to master!.

C) It's not easy to follow at first, especially if you're a strong personality and you're not used to it!. It helps to have a strong partner, because that will help you to learn to follow!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
