Position:Home>Dancing> Broadway dance center or steps on broadway?

Question:im from long island [close to the city] and have a real love for dance...but my studio is holding me back, so my ballet teacher told me that she takes classes at broadway and steps and told me too choose because those are in her opinion the best in nyc. so which is better? and what would i expect from both? i would love as much detail on both studios if u could so i know what i am getting myself into. and just to throw something in here what are good back stretches because i have an extremely stiff back and need tricks on how to make it more flexible. but thanks for anything.

I've never been to Steps, but i'll let you know that Broadway Dance Center has connections. Many, many connections, especially to Hollywood- meaning that they have classes from teachers like Brian Friedman, Mia Michaels, etc. They employ the ever AMAZING Kim Wolfe, who made me cry while teaching at a convention because her dancing was just so freakin inspirational.

Comparing the two studios, i'll say that Steps is more classical, you'd see more technical classes, so if you're a ballet buff, go to Steps. BDC is more current and has a lot of hip hop and jazz and modern contemporary, so if you're a jazz dancer, go to BDC. Again, i've never been to Steps, but i've researched both studios and that's kind of how I see it.

Personally, I LOVE BDC, their teachers are amazing. With both studios, know that you'll be in class with experienced dancers. Good luck! Whatever choice you'll make, either studio will work out fantastically.

I took a master class with teachers from Steps on Broadway and totally loved it! if you have the money, go for it!
There was a Horton class, a ballet class, a yoga class, and a musical theatre class. All the teachers were really nice and helpful, i really felt like a better dancer after.
I would definitely recommend Steps.

as for the back- lie on your stomach and roll your shoulders as far up as they go. try to put your palms flat on the ground. then bend your knees and try to touch your feet to the back of your head. after youre done, stand up and bend over to touch your toes and loosen your back. do that often.

Good luck and happy dancing!
