You can be on any grade. It really depends on how confident you are and your age. You need to be a strong ballet dancer with amazingly strong ankles to do pointes. When your teacher thinks your ready she will let you! A lot of people say you have to be on a certain grade but you don't ! im on a high grade and went on pointes a few years ago and my friend is at grade 2 and went on pointes! But it mostly depends on age and strength and if your teacher is allowed to teach pointes!
Good luck! Oh by the way i was 10 when i started pointes!

thats called pointe, and how old are you?
and you have to have taken ballet for many years to go on pointe, its very hard and serious, and you can really injure yourself.
i think 13 or 14 is a good age, every teacher and every school has their own opinion on it

It's called Pointe, and you aren't actually on your toes, there's a wooden block in the shoe too.
It's hard, and takes a lot of strength and suppleness, and you need strong ankles.
There isn't a specific grade to be in, but if your ankles aren't strong enough then you won't be allowed to do it.
Ballet alone takes years of practice. The youngest pointe dancers I've known are 15/16...
If you're just starting ballet then don't get your hopes up anytime soon about being on Pointe. You need to get the basics sorted first.

Good luck with the Ballet though!

u can be in any grade, it just depends on wat level ur on. i wouldn't recommend starting at any time younger than 11 b/c idk if someone that young could take some of the pain that the shoes cause. to impress ur ballet teacher u could practice at home a lot. i take ballet as well and i dont try to impress my teachers because im not dancing for them, im dancing for me.

most teachers require the student to be 12 before they even consider allowing them to go en pointe...even then you still have to prove yourself. You shouldbe able to stand on the highest demi pointe you can and hold it for a long time. Also, if you have the strength, you would be able to releve to your tippy toes witjout the shoes...it will hurt but if you have the right muscles you coul do it..thats how u know ur ready

That's pointe and it will take many years before you advance to that level. Also, I don't know how old you are, but I know there is a certain age you should be to start point. It's really bad for your feet if you start too young because you haven't developed yet.
To impress you teacher you should just try your hardest in every class to show her(or him) how much you want to improve!!

Getting to be on pointe is a privilege. Being good on pointe in a talent. Most teachers will know exactly when your ready for pointe...If you are between the ages of ten and thirteen then your teacher will be watching to see if you are strong enough to be on point. It does not necessarily have to do with your age, it's your ability to pay attention and how strong you are on flat shoes. I got on point when I was twelve and when I started to develop. That is another thing, Teachers don't usually put their students on pointe until they have already started to change into women. This is because your body has to gt used to being different and you go through stages of being stronger and weaker when you dance. Your teacher will let you know when your ready, But caution!!! If you go on pointe too early, you can really damage your body!
Good Luck!

um, if you are calling POINTE "on your tippy tippy toes", you aren't ready. You can't just go on pointe when you are just starting ballet. I have danced for 10 years, and this is my first year on pointe (sorry, not a pro). It doesn't matter what age, you have to have strong feet, ankles, legs, and a strong back. You not go on pointe for a while. And don't try to impress the teacher by being show offy, and not being good, the other girls will find you annoying.
