You will want toe pads for your pointe shoes.

DO NOT GET GELS!!!!!!!!!! Even though people are going to tell you they are the most comfortable kind, they are bad for your feet and shoes. Gels cause you to sit in your shoes, causing you to wear out your shoes faster. Also, they prohibit you from feeling the floor, which is critical for good pointe work. I would suggest lambs wool. It is super comfy, and won't do all the bad things gels do.

General tips:
-stretch before class, it helps warm up your body for class
-watch and observe others. If they are getting criticism, listen to it and apply it your dancing. Also, if someone is doing something good, learn from it!!

well going on point is likely 2 hurt at 1st!
2 toughen ur feet up buy some surgical spirit and apply to feet with cotton wool bout once every other day!
oh nd probs best to buy some plasters for the first few weeks!!

do lots of releves en pointe and in flat shoes to strengthen your ankles, that will help a lot. to do the "super releve" stand on the edge of a stair or something raised so that your heels can sink lower than the balls of your feet. then do releves. to make it harder try then on one foot.

If you want to succeed and be good at ballet and/or pointe, you'll have to be disciplined. No one can MAKE you good, but yourself. So your amount of success is really only measured by how hard you work for it.
Yes, pointe will hurt at first. There are things you can put inside your shoe, like lambswool or little toe covers, but ask your teacher, as some teachers/schools don't allow it.
Really just pay attention to your teacher to see what they're asking of you --- ballet is a very technical and detailed art form, so the little details matter!
But remember to have fun with it, because if you're not, then it's going to be a chore to work hard at. Hope you enjoy it!

Make sure you know how to sew your shoes! Other people might not always be around to do it for you!

Oh and if you're getting Gaynor Minden shoes be sure to get the suede tips, they're 10 dollars extra but they make your shoes last sooo much longer!

Definitely keep working the releves, to help strengthen ankles and feet. For pointe, I used "ouch pouches" as my toe pad, and they work great, without any lambs wool. Just these: http://www.bunheads.com/gel/OrigOuchPouc...
Most of the girls in my class used these as well, and they are fabulous and last a really long time.
Good luck with pointe, and remember to have fun!

prepare for pain look after shoes and pracice basic steps at home but make sure you do it right or youcan get into bad habbits

well done for starting point and good luck
