Is it ok for a boy to wear girls tights to ballet class ?

Question:I am attending a beginner ballet class.I am 21 years old and am the only male in the class.Male ballet tights are very expensive and my mother has suggested wearing a pair of womens ballet tights(black) which are cheaper.Up to now I haven't worn tights to class but I would like to as all the girls wear tights.

Yes you can wear tights branded for women, they aren't really much different from mens tights other than womens/unisex tights are not quite as thick. If you do go with womens/unisex tights you will need to wear a pair of shorts over them cause they are a little more see through or wear two pairs of them. I have seen and heard of a couple of guys wearing tights branded for women in skin tone color under shorts during the winter to keep their legs warm in the studio. As long as you are comfortable with it and your dance instructor is ok with it then it will work.

i mean you said black as long as they aren't pink or something i don't see what the problem is. it's not like anyone's going to able to tell they're women's. so go for it!

Well.. I think womens ballet tights are built differently to men's.. so i would reccomend the men's even though they might be a bit more expensive..
But i would sujest going on ebay.. and buying a 2nd hand pair or even a new pair for much cheaper..

mens tights are different. You would be best going to a second hand store of art/dance. Or buying them on ebay. I dont know it you can actually tell the difference in men and wemons I think that one just has a little more room in place for certen packages if you know what I mean.

I don't think they'll be very comfortable, and if you're tall you'll have a hard time finding a pair long enough.

What about bike shorts? That might work better. Maybe women's tights from a plus sized store, like Lane Bryant.

How about these places? These tights don't seem too expensive to me.

Well, usually no. There is a reason they make special mens' tights. They are thicker and more suited for mens' genital areas and legs.

If you do decide to wear female black tights, wear two pairs layered, and wear athletic shorts over your tights.

i think it will be better if your wear male ballet tights as they will have a different style to the girls
