Roy B is corrrect, you can find alot of DVD's at the public library. However, I would check some reviews on belly dance DVD's before seriously studying the movements taught on it. Most DVD's I have checked out from my library are pretty decent. There was one that really wasn't very good. I would not have known that if I hadn't already been taking belly dances for a few years already by then. You can check Shira's website.

There are belly dance websites with lots of great info about belly dance.

If you decide that you want to take classes, some of the websites have teacher/dancer listings.

It is quite difficult to really learn belly dance correctly from a DVD or online since you can't ask questions if you don't quite understand what they are doing. There are some videos on YouTube that are okay.

These are short video clips. You can get the basic idea of the movements she shows.

I'm sure someone can direct you to a sight, but may I suggest an old fashion option? Your public library will have videos that you can check out.
I know, I know "Public library, GASP"!
But you would be suprised at the resource of knowledge that is going to waste.

why do you want to know

If you get extended channels there is a show that comes on FITtv that is called Shimmy, it teaches the basics. The only thing is that most of the dancers are freestyle, but the basics are taught and if that is all you want it should be good enough to start. But I agree with the above that shira.net has lots of good stuff as well as other links.
My favorites are on veoh.com. This one is a fav I watch often.
