Question:I'm a dancer and i'm going to audition to get into Interlochen Arts Academy next year for highschool and I was wondering if anyone has any advise on what I should do to impress the judges?
This is a list of the audition requirements:
Center - Grand Adagio including developes in each position, promenades and pirouettes
Petit Allegro
Grand Allegro including jetes, tour jetes and tour enlair (for men)
Pointe work including pirouettes, releves and echappes
Solo - This should include a prepared solo of applicant's choice lasting no longer than two minutes, showing the full range of abilities of the dancer.
No barre work is required on the audition tape.

The school officials will look for strong technique, good turns and extensions, an understanding of movement and how your body specifically works, good musicality, and stage presence. Don't slap on a fake smile and just go through the steps. DANCE! Put part of yourself into it and you will be noticed. Make sure your solo is unique too.
