Whatever you do, DON'T practice in your garage on that concrete...it ruins your shoes.

I personally practice on my back porch...we have an enclosed one and the floor is wood, but its light blue so you can't see scratches.

If you can't do this, go to the hardware store such as Lowes or Home Depot, and have them cut you a decent-sized piece of board-nothing too big, so it will fit somewhere, yet big enough for you to practice on.

Good Luck! :D

get a flat square board of wood at ur local hardware store

I have done everything!! haha I did tap and irish dance , So both have very hard heels. You can do a plank but its bad for your legs to dance on a surface that doesn't have a little bounce in it. So i would recommend if you do . do a plank get a larger one and attach those sticky carpet squares to the bottom. I also used to do to a local dance studio and dance if they have freestyle hours. I also used to go to my local gym and use there aerobics studios when no one was using them. If they don't let you use your tap shoes get some practice shoes! hope that helped!

you can practice in your garage. I do it all the time

CONCRETE IS THE WORST THING EVER FOR YOUR TAP SHOES .. get a wooden square..by grandparets cut a piece of wooden counter top off when they put in their sink..makesure u put the board on carpet..other wise SHIN SPLINTS

I pretty much agree with the rest of them.
My sister actually took down one of her closet doors whenever she wanted to practice.
You're going to need more than just a square of wood though, it's gotta be big enough so you can actually MOVE.
I had a tiled floor put in my bedroom (I just put a rug over it until I want to practice) so I didn't have to worry about scratching the wood in the kitchen or the tiles in the bathroom.

you can easily get small wooden floor from specialist shops for tap dancing on or if you want something cheaper just get extra wooden flooring for a diy store and lay that down when you want to practice
or you could practice in your back garden
