Its never too late to start ballet! Sometimes, when you're on the older side, if you take a couple classes a week and are progressing well, the instructors will let you move up to a higher level. As for pointe, it may take a bit of time- most studios require you to have taken ballet for around 2 years before going on pointe. Its for your own health. Pointe requires really strong feet, and if you aren't ready for it and you go on pointe, it could cause permanent damage to your body. You can definitely get there, it'll just take a lot of time and effort! Have fun! Ballet is such a great thing to get into!

You can start dancing when ever. You should still be able to go on point no matter how old you are. Happy Dancing!

You can start ballet even as an adult and still go en pointe with the proper training and teacher permission.

no! you can still start...it might be a couple years before you go on point though because you have to learn all of the basics of ballet

You are never too old to start ballet! At 13 you should definetely be able to be on pointe within a year

Ok I dont know how old you are but you are definitely not to old! I started ballet when I was 13 and I am en pointe now! It was hard to get there but not in any way impossible =] So I say go for it! I know that you can do it! I made it en pointe in 3 years of dancing and I LOVE it! I dont have the natural ability to dance but I work as hard as I can all the time! So my tips for you would as long as you really love ballet go for it! And work as hard as you can all the time! Hard work really pays off!

Good Luck! =]

okay ur deffinitely NEVER too old to start ballet. i started when i was about 8, and im not twelve and i'm not on pointe yet, but the harder you work and show your teacher that u are ready, the faster you can move up ! plus, you never know what natural talent you have ! : ] good luck

I don't agree with Catherine K's response about being able to start in a year if you start when you're 13. I'd agree that a minimum 2 years would be necessary to gain the proper understanding of the basics before you go on pointe. Pointe is dangerous if you don't properly understand what your feet are doing!
But I do agree with everyone else, in that you're never too old to start! But keep in mind that if you're starting ballet with the intention of going on pointe, you should tell your teachers that that's a future goal of yours so they can specify their comments to better help you get on pointe!
Good luck!

don't worry about your age. i know people who started ballet at 17 and then gone onto pointe when they are supple enough.
