Position:Home>Dancing> A complaint in my dance school that I "bounce" too much when I dance.?

Question:Although Im disbelieving, I think it was a mother of one of the girls in my pas class complained to the school director that I "bounce" too much when I jump. I wear the same dancebelt and tights as always. Is this a legitimate complaint? The school director told me to try a different belt, but Ive used M.Stevens for like 8 years with NO problems- they are the best (and most supportive, I think). Has anyone heard something so crazy? Now Im self-conscious...lol

uhh what the heck... too much bounce?? wow. hmm maybe she shouldn't be looking to notice the "bounce" and if its worked for you for 8 years and you think its supportive then it should be fine. if they keep complaining though perhaps trying a new one would be alright. but in the meantime use the belt you want it sounds like its been quite alright for you so far. lol

perhaps the mother was just being over protective like all mothers are....

I think that's .. odd. Maybe the mother's was being too observant. Don't worry about it. I think you should keep wearing the same one.

What's a better opinion to you?
8 years of experience or, a one day incident.

What exactly do you mean by "bounce too much"?

Since you mentioned what you wear, I'm going to assume the bouncing she's complaining about has to do with your physique, and if so, she and the school director should go pound sand!

People's bodies bounce when they jump, and if this person is focusing on your chest or other soft tissues, it's HER problem, not yours. Maybe she's jealous.

Honestly, this sounds like a good start for a Dana Carvey "Church Lady" skit!

If I was you, I'd put on clothes that exaggerated the bounce!

I wouldn't wory about it, if you're atking the right precautions (dance belt) then it shouldn't matter.

If there was a real problem, then the school director should take it up. Ignore the snide remarks. Why was she looking anyway? lol

Im sorry, but what is a dance belt anyway? Are you bouncing as in Chest, Stomach, or not holding your center? if your not holding your center, then yes. just fix, maybe take an extra ballet class. if it is your chest, try a more supportive bra. if its your stomach, try wrapping an ACE bandage around it it holds it tighter and makes you look skinnier. =] Good Luck!

Yes, I've heard of parents from kids in my dance class that complain about other students to make their students seem better. It is not a legitimate complaint at all!!! Just ignore her. Its only to make her "prized daughter" seem better at dance. And dont be self conscious because your there to dance for you and not for that mother or the school director.

To clear this up, the asker is a GUY. A dance belt is like supportive underwear for things that guys don't want moving around when they dance. Dance belts obviously aren't 100% perfect, so I doubt there's anything to complain about. The girl's mom probably has no experience watching guys dance. There's something wrong with HER if she was looking at your crotch long enough to notice that. Maybe pay more attention in class and see if you notice anything. It's probably nothing to worry about.

That would be like a father saying he saw a girl's boob bouncing too much. You have the proper...attire and you can't be blamed.

You could try another but personally I stay within brands I trust/like.

That is crazy.
