lol i never seen belly dancing hard, theres no thing such easy or hard in dance if u really want to do it. it needs lot of effort. i never took belly dancing classes, i never felt like i have to! i used to dance since i was a baby! belly dancing when i was a kid! plus! u're not supposed 2 have flat tummy when u dance! cz in the history of belly dance! guys used to love the lil tummy out when the gurl is dancing, u dont find the old origin belly dancers havin the same abs as hip hop dancers, or ballet dancers. it is okay to have a little tummy out! but now all i see gurlz dreamin to have packs! it really dont suit with the origin culture but yes with lot of practice, u will have nice abs! im sure they will ask you 2 do lotta exercices 4 the abs!

yes it is hard. You need alot of musle and a lot of practice. Sit ups give you nice abs to though. But, yes belly dancing is HARD.

I have taken a belly dancing class before. In order to do it at a high level it does take a lot of practice and training (as with any style of dance). However, there are classes that are taught from beginning level on up. It is a really good core workout, and it is a fun and different way to learn to move your body. The class I took had people in it who had taken years of dance and some that had never done anything like that, and we all had fun and learned a bunch. So definitely take a class! Have a good time. Expect your abs, arms, and back to get a good workout. It may see tricky at first, but as with anything new, you start with the basics and work your way up.

yea, belly dancing is deff difficult! if your not totally commited to it i wouldnt start. either you have the feeling for it or u dont. learning that is very difficult. i've been doing belly dancing for six years now and i love it. but it was tones of hard work and loads of practice. but now tht i know how to do it properly i'm so glad i invested all this time. i wouldnt try it just to get nice abs or whtever. do it for the the dancing and because u love it not for any other reasons. there a lot of other ways to get nice abs.

I've been bellydancing for 6 years now - and both of your questions could be answered with both yes... and no! :-P

The movements in belly dance come naturally to some, and to others like me, not at all! But it's so much fun that it doesn't seem hard. Yes, your abs will look better (best depending on how often you dance) - more defined and the dance is aerobic enough to help lose weight. There are even some moves in bellydancing that help slim the waist!

But of course all this only works if you dance often! A one hour class once a week isn't going to make too much difference. But I highly recommend trying belly dancing - it becomes an addiction - but the good kind!
