Position:Home>Dancing> Are Suffolk pointe shoes worth the money?

Question:I just had both my daughters professionally fitted for pointe shoes. One daughter (on pointe 5 years) went from Grishko 2007's to Suffolk Solos and my other daughter (on pointe 1 year) went from Bloch Serenade's to Suffolk Solos. They obviously have similar feet! They each tried 15-20 pairs of different shoes and the Suffolk's seemed to fit both my girls the best. Are they really worth the extra money? Did any of you try them and then change to another shoe, and if so, what kind? The girls both have wide toes and narrow heels.

I've been dancing and fitting pointe shoies for A LONG TIME. There is no obvious reason why one girl in a bloch serenade and one in a 2007 should end up wearing the same stule Suffolk. The wide toes are only being supported in the 2007 because the narrow box is holding the toes together.
That said, there may be some reason they both chose the solos, thats not ym call to make not having seen their feet. If you noticed the fitter was a good salesperson, thuis may be a relatively new model to their store theyre trying to push. I personally hate the solos, I have wide feet, narrow heels, similar to what youre describing with yur girls. I find the box is poorly formed, no pad works well with it (in my experience at least) and it wears in very quickly. A girl who can break a 2007 is not going to last long in solos, theyre just too soft. The Bloch isnt that much softer than the Grishko to be totally honest. However, if they are lasting awhile in the serenade and the 2007, I might wonder if a softer shoe is needed. The life of a pointe shoe is only a few hours, and if they have several classes a week at center, the shoes shouldn't last more than a month, and thats kind of pushing it.
I personally think the solos are overrrated and overpriced, but again, ultimately, the choice is the dancers and with a shoe liek this, theyll see very quickly if theyve made a good choice.

Doing pointe is hard on the feet already, so I would get the shoe that fits the best despite the cost. Much like tennis shoes, different brands fit different people well. I've never tried Suffolk pointe shoes, but if they are the ones that your daughters felt were the most fitting, I would stick with thoose.

In order to get the best results on pointe you want to have the shoes that fit you the best. If they like the Suffolks I'd say they're worth the money. They're great shoes and personally I loved them, worth every penny.
