Another question about dance?

Question:I would really like to take ballet and tap classes (I would love to do pointe if thats possible). I took jazz and tap classes when I was 7 but I quit 2 years later. I started gymnastics and I did it for 3 years but now I'm bored of it. I want to start dance in the fall but my parents hate the idea and they ask me "how will dance benefit you?" How can I convince them to let me do dance? Thanx!!:)

I tap dance-- I LOVE IT! Tell them that you can become more smarter when you dance and it makes you better to memorize things... Because you have to memorize steps, the dances etc... Ballet helps your posture making you look taller and nicer...

Dance can really help you to learn to be commited to something- if you wanna do pointe, then you will have to stick with it for a little bit- and it can show responsiblity, you can make friends, you can get fit while having fun, and jsut tell them its something you really wanna do!

If you insist enough, they will realize its something you wanna do...i did that for horse riding, and then when i fell off broke my arm and had surgery, they reall believed it was something i loved...but dont do that on purpose.

It benefits you by staying physically active, working for goals, and working on a team. Plus, if you don't do it now, you might never do it. And pointe takes a lot of work so you have to stay committed.

It looks great on a college application! My mom was going to ground me from ballet for life, but she's going to let me back in b/c I told her of how wonderful that looks on a college application. If you don't do a sport you need to seem well-rounded somehow!
