Position:Home>Dancing> Can dancing be seen as therapeutic?

Question:depending on what type of dance - if you took up ballet it is very relaxing when you do barre work but centre work such as jumps and pirouettes take more energy.

Jazz/modern/tap are all quite fast and energetic and i would not think of those as therapeutic!

Why do you ask?

any sort of exercise helps the body release endorphins, the chemicals that give you a sense of well-being...so...YES!

Yes, definitely. It realeases toxins from the muscles, gives you body endorphins, and helps you express yourself without words. Dancing is the best high in the world.

Very.

Yes! I don't think I could function properly without dance. It's my stress reliever and my therapy. =D

Absolutely. Actually there is something known as dance therapy. I did my whole graduation project on it. The basis for it is that when something is wrong with you it's because your mind is disconnected from your body. With dancing your reconnecting your mind and body. There's loads more information on it here.
