Your definitely not too old. If your teacher is saying that, maybe its time to find another teacher. She is not doing you a favor by putting you down in such a way.

And guys usually don't go on pointe. Unless they belong to the Male Ballet, the want to strengthen their feet, they choreograph and want to know what it feels like etc.

As for losing weight, do you really need to? If you think you do I suggest you go to your doctor before you start doing any diets or huge amounts of exercise.

I hope this helps :)

And Good Luck in Ballet!

Just wanted to point out (no pun intended) that male dancers don't typically go en pointe...

male ballet dancers do not dance en pointe :].
if you are overweight then i suggest firstly looking at your diet... you need to be eating six meals a day and they need to be healthy..diet is an extremly important part of weight loss. you need to be doing around 60 minutes a day of exercise..ie. simple things like going for a walk etc. hope i helped :]

oh i almost forgot, male dancers may go up on pointe to "experience" the feeling, improve ankle strength, there are also things called Male Ballets (i think thats what there called) where only male dancers are in them so male dancers will go up on pointe in them.

hope i helped.
