Position:Home>Dancing> Is starting Ballet at age 14 too old?

Question:Well I'm 13 and I've just got my first pair of pointe shoes. I've been dancing since I was 3. I don't think any age is too old to start dancing. As long as you enjoy what you're doing and it's not doing you damage, go for it! I love dancing because it keeps me fit, I get heaps of opportunities to perform and it's lots of fun. It also takes a lot of discipline and dedication- so if you're prepared to work hard then nothing should be there to stop you.
Good Luck!

too old for what? I started at 20 and it has kept my body in really good shape. at 49 I still can keep up or surpass most 30 year olds in stretching, running, exercising, boxing etc.

definitely not. some of the greatest dancers have started at age 16 or later. don't give up on it if you like it. reach for the stars.

no I started when I was thirteen, went en pointe at fourteeen and I LOVE it. I would like to go professional but that is a little far fetched.

No. You can dance at any age. Dancing is about expression and you are never too old to express yourself!

thats crazy! it's never to old to start anything new. Go dance fellow yahoo person dance!
