?

well if you dont want to work that hard, pilates.
but if you want real results and a real challenge, gymnastics. it will help you in so many ways.

Pilates

Pilates, I'd say. You get more flexible and you work on core strength.

Well, sometimes gymnastics can make you develop muscles that are too "bulky" for dance. Though I did gymnastics for 5 years before I started dancing, and saw no difference in my muscle bulky-ness then usual...(except at age 8, I had a full six pack...scary :P) So, I would say Pilates. Plus, Pilates may fit into a busy dance schedual better then gymnastics. Good luck!!

As a dancer, I personally dont like pilates one bit. I was a rhythmic gymnast before I danced, and it prepared me IMMENSELY for the studio.

While you are doing pilates it is HELL, but I noticed it really helped me with sore musles and becuz of all the ab strength i got, i am way better at pirouettes, and even my ballet teacher noticed i was jumping higher. Also for dancers it is good, becuz pilates instructors know alot about anatomy which helps you in dance, if you get an injury and just how to feel what your body is doing.
