Was George Balanchine a great dancer?

Balanchine put the United States on the map with ballet. Before Balanchine we were considered 2nd to Russia. He combined modern movement, and great artists to make works of ballet that were not just story ballets. He introduced the very thin female dancers who worked on line. Dance became about motion, not emotion. I obviously love him, too.

That's an opinion. I think he was an ok dancer/dance maker, but needed some help on being a good person. He only did things with one kind of dancer. And we won't even go into other "things" he did with them.
