Position:Home>Dancing> Ballroom dancing at military balls?

Question:We are thinking about attending a Navy ball in the nation's capital. My husband and I are both ballroom dancers. They have live music provided by a military band of professional musicians, which we find promising.

What type of music do they generally play? Is it more suitable for standard or Latin dancing? If yes, what types of dances are most frequently played, e.g., Foxtrot, Waltzes, Quickstep, Jive/Swing?

If anybody has any experience, I would much appreciate your response. The reservations are due by Friday, so we have to make up our minds rather quickly.

If you're both ballroom dancers, I think you're all set anyway, no matter what type music they play. I'd wear something suitable for both styles. Sorry, I've never been to a military ball, but I've been to formal balls before and they plaid both types of music.

They would probably be playing all sort of ballroom music. I would say that they would probably be playing a lot so swings and hustles. But whatever music they play even if it does not have a particular ballroom timing you will still be able to dance to it. Go for it!! You will have a blast. I have always wanted to attend a ball.
