dont curl. you're not supposed to be crunching your toes together. when youre pointing, think about reaching your from your ankles, or if your sitting on the floor legs, legs out in front of you, try reaching for the wall in front of you, then you should get the idea of how you should be pointed.

youre basically just pointing your ankle & your toes are finishing out the line that your ankle leads them out. you never wanna stop your lines by making something go in another direction

you don't want to curl or crunch the toes but rather stretch them. It ruins the line of the foot if you curl the toes

basically theyre curled...whatever position works for your foot so its at its pointiest from the top, elongating the leg line

My director, who is an excellent ballet teacher who trained with the Joffrey, told us that our toes need to be straightened.

They shouldn't be curled. You should point your foot using your arch, not your toes.

Well...it's not really about curling your toes. After all, if you curl your toes with a flexed(flat) foot, then that isn't a point at all. To point your toes stretch your foot using your "foot muscles" and bend your arch. If you need help with pointing you could use those exercise bands like... http://www.discountdance.com/frame_set.p... and those help to build muscles and improve your arch and point.

You curl them making sure you don't scrunch them.

When you are pointing your toes aka foot you should be stretching them. I believe if you are curling them that would be a sickled foot or toe. I hope that I helped you out. You should practice pointing your toes aka foot barefooted in the mirror to see what exactly your foot is doing. Best Wishes.

no, your toes should be straight. curled toes (also called crunching) incompletes the line of your body, leg, or foot. crunched toes also doesn't look as nice as a beautiful elongated foot. try to think of pointing your foot from your arch or your ankle. many dance teachers have switched to tell young dance students to point their foot instead of pointing their toes because pointing just your toe can be crunching if you don't understand correctly. hope that helps!
