Position:Home>Dancing> Cheer/Pom Tryouts in April!! Any tips?

Question:I'm in 7th grade right now and trying out for 8th grade. I'm currently on the squad right now. Do you think that I have a good chance of making it again next year? My toe-touches and herkies are good, and we do pirouettes and I have a solid double and a "coming along triple". I currently take formal dance classes and I'm not that bad (L3 Tap, L2/3 Jazz, Theatre, Show Dance). I'm not exactly the skinny-ist cheerleader on the squad (I'm 5'2" and 139 lbs.) I'm really nervous...any tips? I'm not exactly the skinny-ist cheerleader on the squad (I'm 5'2" and 139 lbs.)

I think you should go for it!!! The judges saw something in you that got you on the squad, and your formal training would be a big help to you, it will allow you to teach your team members new tricks that you have learned. Who cares if you are not the skinniest, those who pay that much attention to your weight, are lame. Just go out there and be yourself, my dance coach always tell me to dance like no one else is watching you. Goodluck with tryouts!!!!

TIP!
dont try out

cutIE, that was mean! I agree though.

Cutie and CPawx are toatally wrong. TRY OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they obviously saw something in you when you tryed out the first time, just go in there confident and prepared and blow them all away

uh, if you want it your going to have to work your body for it, running is always good, work it off in the summer but don't give up cause your a bit bigger than the others , you seem to have some talent so yea,...just work a bit in the offseason

Do stunts in front of a mirror (if possible) and learn a new cheer (or make one up). Something new that no one you cheer with has heard makes you stand out! I know a LOT of cheers if you need any!

Pay off the judge?

I think you should try out!!! And the way you are discribing of what you know how to do in my opinion you will make it , DON'T let your weight bring you down i weighed that much in 7th and i made it on the cheerleading squad i been in cheer for 5 years have self confidence (think of yourself better than everyone and try hard) i did and i was one of the BEST. Be loud and smile =]

If you got in the first place, you are either talented or they saw potential in you. Why not try out again? You don't lose anything by trying out, and weight doesnt mean anything. Just haveconfidence and believe in yourself.

It sounds good, lol. I would recommend making up a new cheer a/o dance (if thats not already required for tryouts), making your motions really sharp, and making sure that you're really loud and peppy.
