i got en pointe 2 years after starting any dance (including ballet) and after 3 months of pre pointe. most studios like you to be twelve before going en pointe because of the growth of feet and to prevent future problems involving that. you must have very strong ankles, toes, feet, and legs before pointe shoes. talking to your instructor would be a good idea and you can ask him or her how they think you are doing as far as ankle strength and preparation for pointe work. good luck and keep working hard!

It takes ALOT of strengthening and conditioning of the ankles before you can start. You might want to take more hours. Depending on how strong your ankles are, you can probably start in three or four years. I'm 14 and I'm almost through w/ my 5th year of pointe. All the hard work will be worth it!

my friend has been doin ballet for two years now (hes AMAZIN) and he can only do demi pointe at the mo
i heard it takes at least three years to get on pointe cos if u do it too early, u can break all your toes and everyfink
v. painful
talk to ur ballet teacher and ask her if u can start workin towards pointe
good luck with it!

discuss it with ure teacher. Im 14 and have been doing point for a year. It only depends on how strong you are and how hard your willing to try. Be brave and ask and if you need more time then dont give up

I remember when I went en pointe. I was 10 years old, and I knew that I was good enough since I was around 7. I kept begging my dance teacher, and she kept saying no. Finally, she allowed me to go en pointe. Your dance teacher just wants to be extra careful because your feet must be extra strong. If they aren't you could get seriously injured. The time will come when you will go en pointe, and don't get too ahead of yourself, it will come when you are ready. Good luck!

well thats really good for u that u r getting into ballet. u should ask your instructer!! u'll never know wat she'll say...
wat my dance teacher told me shocked me!!! :D
