Position:Home>Dancing> What song should I do a dance to? (dancers prefered)?

Question:I don't want a hip-hop song. I have an audition and I want a song that would be good to do a modern dance to. Dance teachers always find really cool songs I have never heard before. Examples of what I am looking for are songs like...
Cut by Plumb
and
The Mummers' Dance by Loreena McKennitt
and
Us by Regina Spector
That kind of stuff, any ideas?

Look up some Feist songs, it would be something really different, not a lot of people have heard of. I choreographed a dance last year to Tout Doucement. I want to do one to Honey Honey soon!

I'm going to start choreographing a song to Honetown Glory by Adele soon. It would be a good song.

Nine Inch Nails - Something I can Never have would make an absolutely beautiful dance. I really want to choreograph to it, too.

Lay Low - Beauty is another one I've thought about using. And some stuff by the artist Emily Jane White.

I used Sinkin Soon by Norah Jones recently. I didn't make an entire dance with it, but it would be really good for one.

That's all the stuff I have on my itunes with words. If you want some really great modern music without words, like real modern dance music not lyrical/modern music, edit and say you do and I'll check back! Good Luck!

I joined my high school hip hop dance class today.

I love some of these songs.....some are popular songs some aren't as much but are good for dance.

1,2 Step- Ciara
Lose Control- Missy Elliot
Lots of Black Eyed Peas songs (Hey Mama, Let's Get it started)
Like A Boy- Ciara (me and my bff are using this for a talent show)
Get me Bodied Spanish Edition (in english for some weird reason, says like uno, dos, tres but that's pretty much it. Way cooler beat though)
Get up- Ciara

Hope you like some of them!!!

Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap would look awesome to dance too. Sick beat, powerful voice. I think it would make your audition stick out for sure :)

I'm a dancer and I do many kinds of dancing, including modern. I recently did a modern dance to the song, "Listen to Your Heart" by Cascada. My dance won first prize!

Here are some more song suggestions:
~"Can't Stop the Rain" by Cascada
~"Lullaby" by Emmy Rossum
~"Because of You" by Kelly Clarkson
~"You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban
~"Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield

Hopefully this is helpful!

falling slowly-Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova
all for believing- missy higgins
figlio pertudo- sarah brightman( its in italian)

i danced to all of these songs and so far ive never heard them before and i would reccomend a lyrical dance to them.....hope i helped!

Headlock by Imogen Heap
and
In the Air Tonight by Phil Collins
i also know some other ones but i don't know how the artists are
The Darkest Child
Freak
Grave Digger ( it is not a rock song)
