It never hurts to ask her what you can improve on so that you can work on it outside of class. You cannot just be put on to pointe because you have been doing ballet for x-amount of years. You need to be the right age because you need strong bones. You need to have the right build, and you need to take dancing seriously. Dancing in pointe shoes is not a joke because it can be very dangerous for a new student. Teachers look at your entire body. They look to see proper alignment when you are in releve. Also, they look to see you are pulling up in your legs and your hips. You want to feel like someone is pulling you up by your hair which makes your body appear longer and gives you the proper alignment for dancing. Your knees must always be straight in releve as well as stepping into a pique (onto a straight leg). Strong feet is also a must as well. It's good to work with a theraband, but if you do not have one of those a towel will work as well. Lot's of eleves and releves, concentrating on working your foot through a tendu and jumps, and really working on pointing your foot will all help you have stronger feet.

If your teacher is hinting at it don't rush. It will come when you are ready. You do not want to rush into something your body is not physically ready to handle.

Good luck!

Well my sister is on pointe and you need a lot of strength in your feet to do it

You need a lot of strength in your feet for that.
I knew someone who could arch the bottom of her sneakers which needs a fair bit of strength.
If it motivates you then hey? What the heck?
You should ask her, because then you will know which areas to work on. Good Luck!

she probably really thinks you are getting ready.. in class try really hard to do your best. maybe in a week ask her about pointe shoes just to see if she is being genuine.. but if you aren't ready then she won't put you on pointe shoes so prove to her that you are, and if you aren't get stronger!

ive been doin poin ever since i was 12 and its basically all in ur thies and balace. if your teacer said that u r ready for point shoes thatsa complement becuase she thinks that ur ready to go to a higher level in dance. good luckk
