Position:Home>Dancing> Juilliard Dance Division.... Advice?

Question:I'm a freshman in high school and have been training in ballet, modern, jazz, lyrical, tap and hip-hop since the age of four. (not modern, lyrical, and hip-hop. Started those when i was about seven). I would love to make it into Juilliard. I'm currently attending the Joffrey Ballet School in NY. I train 6 days a week, about 6 hours a day. I have been told by my teachers that i have extraordinary technique and superb dance skills. I'm in the top of my class right now. I don't view dance as a sport or a hobby. It's a way of life, a passion that burns inside of me and i can't keep it inside. If i didn't dance, I don't know where i'd be, i'd be completely lost. help?

Extraordinary technique and superb dance skills are not enough to get into Juilliard. More than anything else, Juilliard looks for talent. Talent is about a certain quality of your movement, not how well you do it. Out of the talent that they spot, there are only 12 slots for girls each year. So be sure to have a back-up plan. Don't overlook Joffrey's trainee program as an option.
