Position:Home>Dancing> Best type of dancing that doesn't require alot of flexibility and gymnastics

Question:I used to dance when i was younger and i quit about 4 years ago. I'm a freshman in highschool and i don't play any sports so i'm thinking about joining dance again. I'm loosing a little bit of weight for it and i'm trying to become more flexible. But i've never been able to do cartwheels or splits or any of that stuff. What kind of dance do you think requires the least amount of flexibility and acro skills?

id give tap and hip! tap u hardly do any stretching...it doesnt need any. its all about ur feet. hip hop is fun and requires some flexibility but not much. but know that if u really want to be in dance again dont hold back because of skills. dancers just dont wake and have the skill they have today. i knew this girl who started ballet in college! she wasnt at all flexible or had any skill but now is on pointe and is competing.well i hope that helps :)

Jazz in the best. You will still have to strech but not as much as in say, ballet.

I would give hiphop a try! Or tap! Both of them have less flexibility than others, I would know because Im in all types of dance, and am not very flexible. FOr me, the hardest ones are jazz and acro; and ballet is sort of in the middle.

You also might want to try irish dancing. Its a lot of fun, and a really good workout. You can look into all of these at www.dance.net

Step dancing is one of my favorates because its easy to learn, and you don't need to be too flexible, you just need rhythm. If you can watch Randy Jackson best dance crew competition on mtv.....Good luck

Tap would be the best for less flexibility. Hip hop would be next, but if you are going to take more advanced classes you would need to stretch. Jazz is also really good, because even though you do stretch, it isn't as much as ballet. You don't have to have gymnastics skills to dance! =]

Tap.

As long as you have a good sense of rythem you will be fine!

Best of luck

Sorry, but every type of dance is difficult and takes a lot of flexibility and probably some gymnastics moves. If you're not willing to work on things you're bad at, dance is NOT for you.

Sorry if I'm not telling you what you wanted to hear, but everyone needs a reality check now and again, right?
