Question:ok so my leaps in dance are superrr bad!! they're low in general and my legs aren't in a split.. i have a split but i can't do it in the air! help please?!

here are some more good tips...
1. another good combination is tombe pas de burre, glissade, and then leap....
2. keep your focus up and out
3. try having someone pull you along as you do it
4. feel like you are doing a battement(SP?) with both the front and the back leg.
5. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.... everyone always says this but it really does help

First of all you need to stretch a great deal before you start leaping. spits,plies, things like that. then you need to pracitice jumping in place in 1,2, and 5 positions.
Now you are ready to leap
i dont know if you do a combo to get ready but this is necessary to bulid up speed.
so try this ( you should know these terms)
sashay
sashay (sorry if this is spelled wrong, i am pretty bad at spelling)
run ( more like a stride)
run
leap.
start with front leg bring it high then snap your back leg high.
dont no how else to explain this but i hope it helped

chassees before leaps are helpful.
try different types of leaps, like developes, sautechat, brushes, and grand jetes. maybe youll realize youre better at one than the other! but its good to be proficient at all of them.
most of all, make sure to get a good prep first.
