stretch!!! stand up and bend down and hold in there and hang.. work on your quads and your calfs.. practice splits while watching tv.. thats really all you can do.. thats what i do to get more flexible for dance

yoga or thai chi.

i started getting flexible *when it comes to doing splits* by putting my legs apart and leaning as far as I could sideways.. IDK if that works....*feels nooby*

go 2 google.....find cheers....u will be the best....if u go 2 google.

you really need to stretch and get your conditioning up so run, and do like drills like suicides, and sprints. also play video games for your hand eye coordination. also if you can get into tumbling class then do try and get your back handspring!

Find a local gymanstics place by you and they run a lot of cheerleading clinics and classes. I highly reccomend it!!! Good luck!

im a gymnast so i know all about flexablity what you need to do is start with a few stretches each day such as ...
*standing with your knees together and your legs straight and touching (or trying to touch) your toes and hold for 30 seconds then increase the length of time each day
*sit on the floor with your legs in a V shape in front of you and lean over to your left side placing both hands on your foot then do this on the other side
*start doing the action that you would do to go into splits and slide down (works best on smooth floors eg wood) to whatever level is comfotable and hold for 3 mins each day try and get further down
i hope that helps

Depending on where you live, there are many cheerleading, dancing, poms and tumbling classes that you can take that will prepare you. If you've never been a cheerleader or dancer, it's going to be hard to be ready in time for the March tryouts. I was a cheerleader throughout middle school, high school and some of college and I started EARLY -- like when I was 4 with classes.

I'm not saying this to discourage you, just to give you a realistic expectation. You ABSOLUTELY SHOULD STILL TRY OUT. Even if you aren't ready, you can get an idea of what to expect, how the "competition" (for lack of a better word) stand, their standards, etc. Then you can spend an entire year taking classes, running, preparing, stretching, etc.

If your area doesn't have classes or you can't afford them, there are still things you can do. Run -- endurance is very important. Stretch and improve your flexibility -- maybe take one or two yoga classes and do the exercises at home or buy a video. Practice yelling or chanting -- you have to be able to yell LOUD. Good teams have been known to pass on good dancers or tumblers because they can't yell. Work on your dancing skills/tumbling -- there are videos or drop-in classes to take. When you do dance or cheer, make sure your motions are sharp. Hard to explain if you haven't done this before but every movement has to "pop" -- remember, people at the top of the stadium need to be able to see you! You know you are on the right track if even simple arm movments are exhausting at the beginning. Be confident.

Look on Youtube and the internet at other cheerleading routines. Study them. There are cheerleading videos and magazines. All those help. Sometimes in tryouts they ask you to create a cheer or chant so these will be invaluable.

Good luck!

U CAN ALWAYS TAKE GYMNASTICS CLASSES

practice doing flips and try to find a cheer and first streach.
