I can't really answer your question but I can offer some encouragement. I am also quite tall (6'2", although more skinny than curvey). My husband and I took dance lessons together before our wedding, and after dancing into a wall and stepping on another woman, I had to quit.

If you're good enough to be considering becomming more serious about it, I say go for it! Being tall may make it more difficult for you, balance wise, but I think a long body is much more graceful looking when moving. I bet you'd make a beautiful dancer. =)

it sorta does matter.. i think at least.. i think that if you are tall and lean you will be good but if you do ballet or something the curves may not be great but you can still succeed

Body types don't matter. I mean if your fat it does...but you aren't so that shouldn't be a problem. Well, if a person's fat they can still dance, but it's going to be harder for obvious reasons and because it's annoying to everyone else in the class. I'm stuck behind a fat girl in my ballet class (who can't dance at all) and i'm literally hidden and not visable because of her. Other than that, it really shouldn't matter. I have a lot of curves too and i still dance and love it!!! You're fine, don't change it. The dance world needs curvier girls in it.

there is a "perfect" body type (no boobs, long legs no curves) but there are many people who dont follow those rules... If you want to go into dance professionally u r gonna hear people comment on your body. But Dont worry about your body if your dancing for fun!

Dancing in the buff does it for me

it realy dose. thin and short is best for ballet

any type really, but different body types do call for different types of dancing, or styles. Often very tall people like the Joffrey Ballet, or the Royal English are very similar. If you like jazz style or something less traditional, there are alot of styles that would fit there :) i myself was fairly lean with very long arms and so i liked the french or Italian lyrical style, or i was also very good at the break dancing in my day because my body type fit in with it well. So, find your niche or develop your own style if you like :) :)

Well, I'm a dancer, have incredibly long legs, am 5'8'', Slim and boobless. But, to tell the truth, I think the other girls in my class look beautiful because they have a bit more figure, if you know what I mean. Just go for your passions. In my view, body shape shouldn't really matter.

listen girl...

I am a professional dancer. I have been dancing for 23 years. Let all those people tell you that you need to be thin. You don't. I mean you will meet the people who think they are better than you because they are apparently the perfect body, but just know you can dance.

I have NEVER been thin. I have lost a lot of weight but I was 222 @ my heaviest and I was still kickin' *** in dance. I am extremely fit from dance. I have lots of muscles and such from dance as well.

you will probably get more fit dancing more.
