Question:I can't do it yet but I'm somewhat close. When I do it front and back, I keep pushing it down and down and it feels as though my thighs are gonna crack but I'm so close so I want to keep forcing myself down. Is there any harm if I do? Can something happen to my body if I do?

YES!!! you could tear a muscle and hurts unbelievably bad! lol one good way to practice is to push you butt up against an open wall and open your legs as far as they can go, keeping your legs straight and on the wall, then after a few minutes, push your legs down a little more each time but when it feels like too much, push them up a little higher and sit like that for about 10 minutes.

Pushing yourself is ok as long as your careful and do it slowly as if youre stretching. Dont let someone else push down on you because they could cause you to tear a muscle - groin muscle tears hurt like hell from what i've been told.

Yes - you can tear your muscles if you push it. I tore the muscles on the inside of my right thigh doing what you are doing and I have never been able to do a right split since then. Just keep practicing and stretching, and you will eventually achieve a full split without injury.

The muscles will rip and tear and it will be very painful. If you really want it though, do it. In order to keep the ability of going down all the way you need to stretch 2-3 times a day at least. Especially your legs. It will hurt you badly to the point of tears but it will go away. If you don't the muscles will heal like the very first time you tried the splits and all your hard work will have been in vain. You shouldn't be pushing your self down to do splits.
And yes there is harm if you feel that your thighs are going to crack. Just don't force your self down.

i dont' know, but i am not a doctor. what my old dance teachers told us was that if you are close, hold them COMFORTABLY for 20 od 30 minutes a night. do homework, read a book, or listen to music while you are doing the splits. Let gravity take its course.

well, im pretty sure you can hurt your muscles if you push too hard. but i think you should take a deep breath, go down a little further, take a deep breath, go down a little further, take a deep breath, etc. do it slowly and you should be ok.... once you have them, they can go away fast, so practice everyday
