Position:Home>Dancing> These girls have no fire in their belly...?

Question:I am 21 and just started taking 2-3 ballet classes per week. I am taking grade 5 and I want to up my lessons soon as I am taking it very seriously as a life choice.
The girls who are in my classes range from ages 9 right up to 15, and they have NO passion at all, it is like they have been forced to come to class by their parents. Although they have mastered the technique to an okay level, they talk about "making it" - but they have no drive, no fire, no passion.
My question: Can a person make it at 21/22 years old if they have enough fire, that something about them that is magnetic to the audience?

Okay, the bad news first.Ballet as a career is out, because you started too late for pointe(by now, your bones have solidified and trying point would be even more excruciating. Now,the good news.Ballet is the very best dicsipline for a dancer,no matter what style they eventually take up.It provides you with core strengthe supple muscles and the carriage a dancer needs. From ther, you can go on to modern, jazz, tap etc, becuase ballet raining will stay with you for life. Now,about the others in your class>It's quite possible that they would rather be somewhere else.Dancing is very hard work(from a technical aspect) and their parents figure,"Better in dance class than hanging out a mall, getting up to God knows what." but, don't let this,or anything else deter you. There's note of sincerity in your post that makes me think you'll be a superb dancer. And yes, while it's rare,a person in their early 20's could just possibly make as a dancer, but remember, a dancer's shelf life is a very short one.Believe me,I know

Definitely! Keep pursuing your dreams and never give up!!

It is possoble. But i am sorry to say that it isnt very likely cuz most proffesional dancers take dance every dance of the week morning to night. And also they usually start at a very young age anywhere from 3-5 years old. So you are most likley going to go nowhere with it. Most profesionals careers start around age 21 and end in early 30's. Then they might open a dance studio or become a choreographer or even just quit dancing all together.
