Position:Home>Dancing> Dance team tryouts?

Question:My high school dance tryouts are coming up in early March. Im on a dance team and go to practice twice a week. I have performed at homecoming games and stuff like that so im was not nervous about tryouts, but about a week and a half ago I severely pulled my hamstring jumping into the splits. It still hurts even to walk. What can I do to get ready for tryouts without injuring myself further? And what should I expect at tryouts? Thanks a lot :)

For your hamstring: keep it moving, try and stretch on the floor as much as you can. Also, put a heating pad on it in the morning before you go to school. This is to loosen the muscle up. Then at night, put ice on it to keep down the inflamation that may have occurred during the day.
For tryouts in general: Keep stretching and work on flexibility, this way you don't injure yourself further. You can do weights and strenth exercieses on your upperbody, but until your hamstring is healed, do not work on strength for your legs. Don't work on the other leg only either, because you don't want your strength unevenly distributed.
Finally: Good luck!

Oh that sux. My friend had that happen last year. I would recommend ice, and stretch it mildly but not like a TON, cuz u dont wanna pull it even more. if u can, try 2 tell the judges about ur injury, but if u cant, then just do ur best. I'll pray 4 u!!! Good luck!! :)
