Male ballet dancers who choose to wear pointe shoes mainly do this to strengthen their feet. Men that want to choreograph or teach pointe also would want to have a first hand experience with dancing en pointe. And it also makes them more aware of what females have to go through when they are on pointe. It's also an entirely different feeling going from demi to pointe.

But then some people disagree with this; saying that if males want to strengthen their feet then they would do so by doing exercises.

My view on this matter is that if males really want to do this, then sure-go ahead :)

In the ballet 'Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo' males actually go on pointe, have a read: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Ballets...

Have a look at this picture as well: http://www.the-perfect-pointe.com/images...

Hope this helps :)

I did ballet, and guys do NOT go on pointe. I don't know if this is the same for contemporary, but I am assuming that it should be the same.

no guys dont go on pointe because guys cant starighten their legs as well as girls.

IDK. Why do it if you don't have to, and you won't need it for dancing. I don't think I would want to see a guy dance on pointe. I don't think it would look very masculine.

Boys dont originally go on pointe. But some men do it for stengthinging. But becasue girls have smaller feet, its not as expensive to but the shoes. sorry :(

My gosh! What kind of class are you taking and where! I know one one group of men on pointe but they are all in drag and I doubt that's what your teacher is looking for! If she is I'd run! Run to a real dance studio and take class there! Are you sure she said Pointe? As in Pointe shoes? I have never put a male on pointe and in all the studios across the country, I've never seen a male on pointe! It is possible but I doubt you would even want too!
