Position:Home>Dancing> Who was the best tap dance star from the movies? Your opinion and why?

Question:This is a strange answer, but I'm going to say Shirley Temple. All the other dancers are adults, so it is great that they are so good, but Shirley Temple was a great tap dancer, keeping up with Bojangles, and she was just a child. So I think she was the best.

Fred Astaire, hands down. He made his movements look as light as air. I know he just didn't do tap, but he had everyone else beat and dancers from all over the world do emulate him to this day.

Fred Astair, but he is most likely before your time. He danced in movies made back in the days of black and white and the early days of color. He danced with Ginger Rodgers in many movies and had all the moves.

Fred Astaire! He is just AMAZING! I'm only a teenager and I respect this guy so much.

aw c'mon, there was only one Astaire paired with Ginger, but you have to give Gene Kelly his due...really..and then you have to get contemporary..Gregory Hines is pretty darn good .....

The Nicholas Brothers, Shirley Temple, and Gregory Hines, i think.
The Nicholas Brothers were both performing professional by the time they were twelve and they would often end a performance with a backflip and a split. That, and they have super fast feet!
Shirley Temple because she got so good so fast. She was only 5 years old when she started performing and was huge ever since in the world of tap.
Gregory Hines, because he was just awesome. He really enjoyed tap dancing and would tap dance on everything. Sidewalk, tile floors, etc. He was also one of the first tap dancers to dance to blues-type songs instead of jazz like most of the older tap artists danced to, He was just awesome!

Fred Astaire is awesome too, and he was a really good dancer, look up "Puttin' On The Ritz" it's incredible!
