Position:Home>Dancing> What age should I start my daughter in Ballet classes?

Question:I think it's better to start them in a creative dance class at 3-4 years old, and even at 5, unless you can find a class that has no more than 15-30 minutes applied to Ballet, combined with other forms of dance. Ballet is too strict a discipline for the really young child. 6 years old is a good time for a 45 minute class, or a 30/30 minute combined class. Fun should be the goal. Strict training should wait until the child is seven or eight years old, or they may decide they do not like Ballet.

4+, that's the age I started, however the average age is 5.

my mother started me in ballet ever sence i could walk and i liked it im just fine i made all a's never once was bad and did excellent in school musicals

whenever SHE wants to. don't make your 4 year old do it if she doesn't enjoy it.

It depends, if u want it to be like a main hobby start her early like 3-4, if u want to see if she likes it wait till' she's old enough to make a decision like that for herself 6-7. I would go with 4-5 though, that way if by the time she is 7 and she loves it she can go far and if she doesn't like it then you could just take her out. 3 is a little early (that's when I started) because it's not like you have a clue why you're doing what you're doing.

Ask her if shes interested in ballet and if she says she is then let her join a class. the number one mistake mom's make is to push their child into a class they aren't ready for or lack interest in , but on the other side of the spectrum you don't want to shield her from her interests. so like i said just ask her and if she says she wants to then great is she doesn't ask her what she would be interested in. regardless of what class she takes you'll adore the cute photos you'll get from her hobby's.

I started when I was 3 years old; I wouldn't go any younger than that. Have a talk to the dance studio that you intend for her to have classes and ask. Some studios won't take children till they are 4 years old or older.

Hope this helps :)

You should start your daughter in ballet class as early as she is able to.

hey there,
if your daughter shows an interest in ballet then maybe 4-5 is a good age.
however if she DOESNT enjoy it don't force her.

hope i helped
xx

you should put her in classes like at 3 or so to get the movement part down and then start at like 5 or so... but you shouldn't make her take ballet if she doesn't like it... but at least have her try it
