Who here has done a dance resume?

I haven't made a dance resume specifically, but I'm a musical theatre performer and the resumes are pretty similar (and I looked up what a DANCE one details to make sure).

Make your name BIG and centered at the top of the page. Under your name, I would list e-mail address, phone number (preferably cell phone), age, height, weight (you might want to include hair and eye color if you're not handing in a headshot).

The first section (I bold my sections and put the info. under the titles) list your show experience - first list the show in all caps, in the middle list your role, and on the right write what company or theater. List your roles from most important to least important and if you've done a lot of performing, only list your most important ones. If not, then list everything.

After that, list training. I would start with your high school, then any dance schools you've been with, then dance companies (if you have a long list, you can just list the ones you didn't mention in the shows section).

This next section is optional - employment. That only applies to dance-related work you have been paid for, like serving as a dance captain, choreographer, dance teacher aide, stuff like that.

For the last section, list special skills (especially if you can sing or act. If you have a lot of singing or acting work, consider a separate resume). List anything - gymnastics, instruments, singing, acting, and you might want to list special awards you've had as well.

Oh, and remember to keep it to one page!! If you run over, find creative ways to make it smaller (fudge the margins or spacing between sections, or get rid of some unimportant roles).
