I don't know how to dance and I'm going to a high school dance.?

Question:Would it be rude not to ask my date to dance? And when I do ask her to dance (even though i don't know how to dance) what should i do?

relax, its not the waltz. She'll expect you to dance. Just watch everyone else. Typically she'll put her arms around your neck and you put your arms around her waist and you just move around in a circle. Unless you are dating and its ok, don't grab her butt. Dance during the slow songs, join in the fun stuff like "YMCA" but its ok to not want to dance to fast music. Just offer to get her punch or something.

you should ask your date to dance anyways. high school dancing is just basically sex with clothes on lol. the girl will move, just move along with her.

just do whatever. probablly half the people at that dace don't know how to dance. just make sure u keep up with the beat, that's about all u need to do to be a good dancer

Ahhh, one of the worst parts of high school...the dances. You're gonna have to dance with your date, no question about it. I'm assuming you're golden on the slow dances (that's the only reason to go to the dance). I'm assuming you mean the "dance" dances. The slow dance you just put your arms around her waist and sway (unless you go to the Footloose or the Grease high school).

Just fake it for a couple of dances, you don't need to dance every song. Act confident and smile. None of the other guys know what they're doing, either.

The more you do it the easier it is and the better you are. Start practicing in your room and you'll feel more comfortable when you get there. If you're really interested in learning some moves, you can probably find a dance-tutorial DVD at a book store, maybe wal mart, maybe parents can purchase online.
