Position:Home>Dancing> Can I eventually become a Professional Ballroom dancer?

Question:I have been doing ballroom dancing since I was very young. (6 or 7) I used to have a partner, but now I dont. I haven't had one for a few years now. Even when I had one I didnt really compete to much besides inside the state. Now Im 14 and just practice with my dance teacher and only dance in student shows. Its very hard to find a guy who want to dance and even if I do they have to be good and at my level. Once I do have a partner do you think I will be able to do good in competitions of a high level with lack of expierience competing and eventually in my early 20's go professional?
Please help. I love to dance so much. I have been waiting so long to get a partner. People might not even think its worth it. But I cant quit I love to dance so much! Especially ballroom dancing I think it is so different then other dancing and so much fun. Its really hard to!
Even if you are not a ballroom dancer I could use your oppinion.

Hi there!

Firstly did you know that Carmen Vincelj started dancing when she was 17, she has become one of the worlds top dancers winning MANY titles at blackpool. Here is her profile http://dancesportinfo.net/displayCouple....

I noticed you said that you said your partner has to be at your level which makes it hard finding one.
My dance partner holds 2 national titles and has competed at nationals many times and international events like the South Pacific championships.
When we started dancing together I had never competed. The goal was to train me up to his level then start competing together. This has worked out to be very successful, we are competing in nationals this year.
So maybe you should look for partners outside your level of ability.

14 is still very young, you have years to find a partner and there's no rush to go into professional because most of the pro competitors arent in their early 20's, theyre in their late twenties and early 30's

The biggest mistake I made was waiting around for a partner, I wasted years doing that. You need to go and LOOK for a partner, check out the beginner classes, look in other studio's and on the net. Dont waste years of dancing time like I did just sitting around and waiting for a partner who may never even come along

Good luck!!!
