Question:YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. ANYONE WHO SAYS DANCE ISN'T A REAL SPORT NEEDS TO GET THEIR HEAD CHECKED. YOU TRY SPENDING HOURS ON END IN SHOES MADE OF SYNTHETIC WOOD ON YOUR TOES MAY I ADD. WE BLEED, WE SWEAT AND WE HURT OURSELVS SO BAD WE CAN'T WALK FOR WEEKS ON END, BUT WE STILL DO IT. IT TAKES MORE ATHLETICISM THAN GOLF AND A LOT OF OTHER SPORTS FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. WOW, YOU ALL.

I wouldn't call it a sport because it is an art form. Yes, dance is incredibly difficult, and professional dancers are as fit and strong as top athletes, but we don't compete in races, play games, or any of that 'sport' stuff. We perform and create art using our bodies. There is so much more than just doing the steps. There is emotion, stage presence, and creativity. When a choreographer creates a dance, he or she is making a piece of art. Dance is not simply a physical activity!

Yes and neither is sex. Both are good for burning calories too

NO WAY!!!

:]
x

you should try hunting

Um...not really a sport although anyone who has every attended an audition knows that the competition is very real. However, did you know that up until the mid 1980's the stand high jump record was not held by an athlete...it was held by a Danish dancer

its not... some oportunists are trying to make it a sport but look what they did to ballroom dancing? even hip hop is effected now by cheerleading steps... you commercialize it and some of the art is lost. rules take over and then it doesnt become an expression anymore just steps. "dance is self expression" not a sport.
yes its demanding and a lot of work if you want it to be but it doesnt have to be a lot of work either... thats what makes dance dance.

Most people who think it's not have never attended a dance class. And those who ARE "dancers" and still think it's not a sport don't take it seriously or have never attended a REAL dance class.

Another thing people use to say that it's not a sport is because we're not "competitive." HAHA. Your joking, right? Have you ever BEEN to a dance competition? We're more competitive than cheerleaders. And yes, our competitions have a set of rules to follow while dancing.

So I guess it's kind of obvious that, yeah, I do think dance is a sport, only if your 100% serious about it and give it your all. Otherwise, like many people say, it's just an "art form"

Ofcourse dancing is a sport...
Why wouldn't it be... You stretch and Train for football just as much as u train and stretch for Dancing... Dancing is a hard sport if you do it well

well if some class going up and down stairs a sport, then dancing is most definitely a sport

are you serious?!
dance is a sport.
i am a dancer and i have it everyday.
t think it is more challenging and competitive then any other sport.
we sweat, compete, and work our butt off,
so people who think its not a sport are stupid.
