Position:Home>Dancing> Bride & Groom first dance - Tango or Samba?

Question:I really don't want to do this over the top first dance but my fiance has his heart set on it & is the only thing he has requested. He was adopted (with his twin brother) so they don't know their cultural background.

My parents are from Argentina so he really wants to do the Tango but I don't think it fits with our wedding. It's going to be more tropical, outdoors, orchids & such and it seems like the dramatics of the Tango would be out of place. I suggested the Samba.

Here's an example of the Tango:

And here's an example of the Samba:

What would you prefer?

depends on the song...
i would do a salsa.
why dont you do a waltz to begin with then scratch the disc and mix 1min. of tango at the end?
you can do the tango during the rest of the night at anytime...

Tango is perfect for just married couples.

Isn't The Tango a dance of love and passion? If done corectly(I mean the "real"tango)then be a sport and go for it.It's sweet that he wants to please your mother and father. He's sounds like quite a guy.Just change into something more suitable than your wedding dress!
Ole! Baile!

Slow down enjoy each other. The day will blast past in a blind furry when you finaly get a the time together alone on a dance floor enjoy the time take a slow dance/or waltz

I'm with him. You don't need all the dramatics of show tango, and a close-contact salon style won't disrupt your theme while still being quite romantic, with the right choreography. Plus it gets him in good with the in-laws!
