All of this is meaningless unless you study ballet.

In any case...place your feet in FOURTH position (left or right foot front, does not matter). Push off back foot and bring foot to crease of knee on the front leg and releve. That's just the position. Get the feel first.

From a standing position, both feet together, flat on the floor and watch yourself in the mirror. Because the LAST thing you want to see as your body is turning is your face. And the FIRST thing you want to see before you've completely turned is your face.

No joke, but the pirouette is all about moving your head.

Keep your standing leg absolutely straight. The leg in the crease of your knee should be turned out as far as possible. And remember, turn out comes from the hip not the ankle. Very important!

In other words...your head (and strength) is what actually makes your pirouette.

As I stated from the beginning, all of this is a foreign language unless you study ballet and learn the terms and all five positions of the feet.

I have been a dancer (ballet, jazz, theater, tap) for over 30 years. I perform and teach dance. I do not mean to brag, but I know what I'm talking about.

wrap a cord around you and get someone to pull it, and you will spin on the spot, INSTANT PIROUETTE!

ok, one way of doing a pirouette is keeping your feet in third position, bending both knees with your arms in third position, 'push off' from both legs, taking your front leg up so the foot is just under the knee, move you arms to first position (like hugging a beach ball lol) and whip your head around very quickly. Land by placing the foot from under your knee to the floor behind the foot that you were spinning on
Hope this helps, its harder to explain that you would think lol

It's a pretty complex movement- mostly muscle memory. Look up "doing a pirouette" on youtube or google video and see what you find; there may be step-by-step vids on there.

I think the other girls did a good job explaining it! make sure you spot though!

Okay put you right foot behind your left (like in a small lunge) Press down pick your right foot up to your knee of you left foot, your right knee should be turned out. Now point your left foot so you are in posse and spin over your right shoulder.
If that was kinda confusing watch this video

it will be difficult to start doing a pirouette if you haven't danced before. but here's how. start with your feet in forth position left foot front. your right arm should be in front of you and your left arm to the side. bend your knees and put your weight on your front leg. open your right arm to the side, you should do this quickly because it is going to help you get around. next rise on to your "tip toes" of your left foot bring you right leg to passe while bringing both arms to first position. heres a video.http://www.abt.org/education/dicti...
just scroll down the list to pirouette and you'll see a good one, a really good one!
