im a dancer, and i practise so much harder than any football player, basketball player, or baseball player. And i know it takes so much more strenght and talent. and hell yea it's way more difficult! But the level of difficulty isnt what makes something a sport. like when i think of a sport, i see 2 teams competing against each other, and that's not really what dance is. so i've never really considered it a sport. But i just looked "sport" up on dicionary.com and it said:

an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.

so i guess it would be considered a sport.

because people arent getting drunk and eating popcorn and watching it on tv lol

Because people don't understand it. A lot of people think it's just being pretty and twirling about. They don't understand the dedication, practice and strength it takes to be really good.

Ballet it's an art (a form of artistic expression) not a sport. Using your logic working at a warehouse or being a fire-fighter would be a sport too.

Unlike ballroom dancing and gymnastic, there are no competition events for ballet, and competition is the main part on any sport.

I Love ballet too!! I think its considered more of an art than a sport. But a lot of people don't understand how hard it is.

"If ballet were any easier it would be called football"

SO TRUE!!

I think since ballet is typically seen in an "art" venue (i.e. some kind of theater/performance space) it is automatically in most people's minds equated with an art.
Also, other than ballet competitions, there is no real way to determine a 'winner' and a 'loser' during ballet, the way you can during any kind of a sport.
In truth, I believe ballet is much more difficult that a sport, because it combines a sport and an art form. It is truly in a class by itself and I LOVE it too!!

I Think Ballet Is a Sport
Atleast in my book. lol

i consider it a sport

i totally agree with you. theres no reason for it not to be a sport

well out there is not a sport. Ballet takes more than just a sport it is a performing
art.

Because it's an art form. Ballet is NOT a competitive sport with teams and games and such. It's beautiful, intricate, emotional art created with the body. Yes, pro ballet dancers are as physically fit as top athletes, but that doesn't make ballet a sport.

ballet isnt condidered a sport because its "frilly and pretty twirls". but it takes as much practice, (if not more) as football and anyother sport.
yah our feet look pretty form the outside, but they dont feel, or look good on the inside.

All dance is a sport! :)
