a few tips that i always have to think about:
-keep your leg at a constant level(perferably 90 degrees, since it's most aerodynamic) and don't let it dip.
-constantly think about turning your leg out, so it doesn't end up in front of you.
-use your arms to help you.
-think about pulling up your center, and keeping your weight over your standing leg.
-also think about driving your standing foot into the floor, to keep your knee straight, and so you don't hop.
-and hold your core - this is soooo important! when i do ANYTHING in dance and don't hold my core... it all falls apart. you would think i would have figured this out before now, but no, it took me 6 years.

these help me - hope they help you!

Shoot for triples or quads, and you'll have your double down in no time. Concentrate on balance and make sure that you are prepped well before starting your turn. If you turn with the speed to complete a triple, then your double will probably come very easily.

a good way is to start by working with your center to strengthen it. if you feel that you can do four regular turns, then practice them for a while. once you are completely comfortable with that you can try four second turns. then combine the two and voila! you have the turn your looking for!

hope this helps!!!!!
